REThe engravings found on Egyptian pyramids, especially inside later pyramids like those at Saqqara Necropolis, are known as Pyramid Texts and represent some of the oldest religious writings in human history, dating back over 4,000 years. These hieroglyphic inscriptions were carved into the walls of burial chambers and corridors to guide and protect the pharaoh in the afterlife, containing spells, prayers, and magical formulas intended to help the king ascend to the heavens and join the gods. Unlike decorative carvings seen in temples, these engravings were deeply symbolic and functional, reflecting ancient Egyptian beliefs about death, resurrection, and divine transformation, and they were originally reserved only for royalty before similar texts later appeared in tombs of nobles.
