BEThe root word Abd or Abed translates to “Slave/Servant”, Abdul means “Slave of” but it’s still incomplete. The Arabic translation of his FULL name is “Servant of The Most Mighty” (Servant of God)
You’ll see variations of Abdul-[insert one of Allah’s permissible 99 names here]. When attached to God’s name, “slave/servant” is then understood as “worshipper” so context matters. In the context of God being the Master we serve, being his servant becomes an honor for Muslims. It implies we devote our whole selves to God who owns us.
Though it’s a common nickname, “Abdul” alone is not a proper name, Slave/Servant of- what?
Some people argue “Abd” is different than “Abdul” but calling someone “Slave” is just as incorrect as “Slave of” because the master is still unspecified.
For example:
One of Allah’s 99 names is Al-Hakeem, The Most Wise.
So a human name would be:
Abdul-Hakeem = Servant/Worshiper of the Most Wise.
Abdullah = Servant of Allah, get it?
I know most people don’t nickname “Abd” variations offensively or intend any harm. I don’t think this shortening is rooted in anti-blackness, but it’s good make an effort to respect what the person would like to be called. You can ask them what their full name is, their parents almost always initially had a second part attached.
My brother prefers his full name but gets too shy to correct people who insist on shortening it for their convenience. Even calling him by his initials is better than just “Abdul”. Bc even if the person calling him doesn’t know the meaning, he does.
Maybe others don’t mind being called the nickname version based on their identity, location, and cultural context . But as a young Black Muslim man in 🇺🇸, there should be no surprise as to my brother doesn’t want to be called any variation of just “Servant/Slave”. There’s an added negative historical connotation which makes it displeasing.
He’s still learning how to stand up for himself though, I’m here to help him become more assertive. STAND UP! Continue correcting or simply don’t respond till ppl respect what you’d like to be called.

EUCore strength is transferable..
To other lifts, sports, life in general, pain prevention/management (ask your lumbar 😆).. it’s deeper than a six pack.
There’s a niche thought that squats, deadlifts, and other compound lifts are sufficient enough to satisfy your core training needs.
The thought isn’t completely baseless, it’s just incomplete. Those lifts help maintain ALREADY DEVELOPED abs and assist in building overall core strength (not to be confused with visible abs), yet if you merely rely on the major lifts for building core you’re limiting how much core strength you can truly develop.
You’re also limiting how much weight you can move for those lifts, being that core is often toward the front of muscles to reach failure.
➡️ So as I sign out the takeaway is: if you have a well developed core you can do a decent job of maintaining without a lot of core work. But to keep your core in peak condition keep at it like with any other muscle group.
And the abs PSA must continue, diet reveals what training creates.
(Advanced core circuit by the way, a lot of front lever development moves.)
