WIdo you agree? 🤔
When it comes to “aggression”, people are so quick to blame the breed, when in reality, the probability a dog will display aggression is derived from the cumulation of many factors. Yes, genetic predispositions can play a role, but so does socialisation, physical discomfort, anxiety/fearfulness, external environment, whether they live rurally or in an urban area, and many others. Some studies have even found body size to be an affecting factor, with smaller dogs more likely to behave aggressively than bigger dogs.
You cannot generalise dogs purely based on breed, but it is important to recognise its role in behaviour, especially when considering adopting a dog. While I play into the joke that chihuahuas are “aggressive” in this video, I hope to better educate some people on dog aggression and open the conversation about breed generalisation.
There’s also an interesting discussion to be had around how smaller dogs seem to “get away” with displaying aggressive behaviours, whereas larger breeds aren’t afforded the same type of lenience.
