+1 to anyone who knows what movie this is from (answer is at the end)! 🤣⁣ ⁣ Half of my posts are current me calling out 2008 me and repeating messages that would have saved me so much anguish in my own fitness journey. 😅⁣ ⁣ I kid you not, I genuinely used to believe that my hard work was done as soon as I signed up with and handed over money to a coach. I’d get a program - great. And yes, I would definitely try to stick to it - sure. But I didn’t realize just how important adherence was in making progress. ⁣ ⁣ So yes, sometimes the issue is that the consistency is simply not there. In this situation, perhaps a gentle reminder that you have to, you know, actually do the things that get you to where you want to be will help. ⁣ ⁣ But sometimes the issue is that the adherence is not happening because the program itself is not suited for you. Perhaps it’s not fit for your lifestyle, or it’s more extreme than it needs to be. In that case, I recommend scaling back the steps - can you cut out the little details and stick to just the basics for the time being? Do you need a more moderate plan? Is there anything you can change so you enjoy the process more? BTW, answering yes to these questions does not make you any less successful. Carb timing for the primary goal of fat loss matters, but mainly to the degree that it suits individual response (including personal preference). Whether an individual chooses to backload, frontload, or evenly distribute carbs is best left to individual preference (& in some cases training demands). Honoring personal preference in this regard would strengthen long-term adherence, and adherence is crucial for long-term fat loss maintenance. Different carb timing and distribution schemes through the day do not have enough consistent differential impact for us to claim a universally superior scheme. I have reviewed the body of literature with @bradschoenfeldphd on this topic as it relates to body composition. Anyone interested can give it a read. Your body needs time to rest and recover after workouts, and neglecting this can lead to injuries or burnout.
