Before reaching the app, AWS WAF blocks attacks like SQL injection, bots, and abuse. Requests then go through an Application Load Balancer, which routes traffic to different services. At the core runs Amazon EKS (Kubernetes): Frontend Orders Payments Each runs as an independent microservice that can scale on demand. An Ingress Controller handles TLS, routing, and zero-downtime deployments. Data layer is split properly: RDS (PostgreSQL) → orders & transactions DynamoDB → carts & sessions S3 → images & invoices Heavy tasks are async: Orders trigger EventBridge → SQS → Lambda for emails, invoices, inventory updates, and analytics. Security & reliability: Secrets Manager for credentials IAM roles for pods CloudWatch + Prometheus + Grafana for monitoring VPC Flow Logs for network visibility This is cloud-native, scalable, secure DevOps architecture used in real companies. Iranian drone strikes have physically damaged Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centres in the UAE and Bahrain, causing widespread disruption to online services across both nations. In the UAE, two out of three availability zones were hit – a rare situation. When that happens, the impact doesn’t stay in the data centre. It extends far beyond the data centre and directly into the apps people rely on daily. Mobile banking apps and other platforms, including Careem, have been significantly affected. Because the damage is physical rather than a technical glitch, AWS has warned that restoration will take time and has advised customers to migrate their data to other regions, such as Europe or the US.
