ITFor months my eyes felt gritty, itchy, swollen, and irritated along the lashes. Every morning it felt like there was sand in them.
Some mornings I could barely open them. They burned, watered constantly, swelled up, and hurt a lot. Sometimes my vision would even get blurry from how irritated they were.
Blepharitis is inflammation along the eyelid margins. It can cause redness, irritation, crusty lashes, swelling, and that uncomfortable gritty feeling in your eyes. For people with autoimmune conditions, it can flare more easily because inflammation is already part of the picture.
It’s actually very common, but a lot of people don’t realize that’s what they’re dealing with.
Once I finally understood what was happening, I was able to start caring for my eyes in a way that actually helped.
