✨cutting carbs 101: Ok hear me out - proteins, fats AND carbs are all MACRONUTRIENTS for a reason so unless you have been directed to do so by a medical professional, you do NOT have to cut out carbs to get results on your fitness journey. Trust me, I went through that phase when I thought every carb was “unhealthy” too, but GIRLLL we are LITERALLY talking about a sweet potato 🤦‍♀️🍠 YES low carb diets CAN work for SOME people, but MOST people are gonna see best results with a balanced diet. no one really talks about how important carbs are ESPECIALLY for women, so let me remind you: 1. carbs are your brain’s preferred fuel source so cutting them from your diet can lead to brain fog, make it harder to focus, and decrease mental performance. 2. carbs are protein sparing which means your body prefers to use them for energy, so “spares” protein from being broken down and used as fuel so it can be used for other roles like muscle growth & repair instead 3. carbs help regulate your hormones so they play a role in keeping stress, hunger, and metabolism-related hormones balanced. Getting enough carbs is CRUCIAL for regulating hormones like LH & FSH which are vital for ovulation and healthy menstrual cycles. i often get asked ‘how do you motivate yourself to go to the gym or run so regularly?’ the truth is, i use it as a tool to make me feel better. i know it can seem that i’m always happy and smiling but like every other human, i have my ups and downs. the majority of the time, i feel good which means that i look forward to the gym and i feel excited to train. however, there are days that i wake up on the wrong side of the bed, or my anxiety takes over and these waves of different emotions are completely normal. it’s the tools we have in our toolbox that help us to feel like ourselves again. movement has the power to regulate your nervous system and shift your energy. on these lower days, movement is my go-to 🏋️‍♀️ don’t get wrong, if i’m feeling tired and i know i need a break, i’m not going to force myself to the gym. i have other ways to make myself feel better - a shower, self-care day, an iced latte or a nap 💤 my mantra for the last year and something i’ll continue to take into 2024 is.. ⭐️train for the present moment and the endorphins it brings, the performance progress in 6 months and the aesthetic gains in a year’s time⭐️ coming from a girl who used to want to see changes in her body overnight, this has helped me so much to remove the pressure we put on our bodies and redirect my focus to what’s actually important (feeling good) 🫶🏻 i hope this helps 💞 p.s @gymshark is my fave gym brand to train in and always makes me feel cute stepping into the gym or heading out for a run. code ANNA gets you 10% off x ad
