ENAfter receiving so many requests to show how I hold tension I finally made a video! There are many different ways to hold tension and I encourage everyone to do whatever feels comfortable but this is the method that I prefer.
So what I do is I hold the yarn in my pinky, tightening my grip to hold tension when working a stitch, and then loosening it when moving to the next stitch. I use my right index finger to guide the yarn while my left index finger guides the stitches on the needle forward kind of like a conveyor belt. I make sure to keep my hands relaxed and stretch every so often to avoid injury!
Side note // I’m knitting this sample of another pattern I wrote. I’m obsessed with this texture and can’t wait to wear it! I’m thinking of calling it the Waffle Sweater and it will be ready for testing in about 2 weeks!🩵

Skills you’ll learn or practice:
• casting on

Yarn:
Jules uses two strands of yarn, but you don’t have to do that if you don’t want to. Shes chose a *bulky* yarn suitable for 6/6.5mm needles.
How much yarn? Jules uses 500g of the Cascade wool and 200g of the Blue Sky. To get 500g she has to buy x2 250g balls of the Cascade, and x4 50g balls of the Blue Sky.
Needles:
For the ribbing she uses 4.5mm needles. Then switches to 6.5mm needles for the rest of the sweater. You will also need a short cable (50cm) and a long cable (80cm) or just the long one and use the magic loop or traveling loop method for the neck, and arms.

It’s a shape you’ve seen before. But when I wanted to make a sweater with a tall neck that wasn’t tight, I couldn’t quite find it. So here it’s! I’m calling it the Staple Sweater because it has become a staple in my wardrobe and one that I reach for often. I hope that if you make it, you do too.
It’s written using Lang Yak and comes in sizes 1 (2, 3, 4)(5, 6, 7)(8, 9, 10) to fit a chest measurement of 28 (32, 36, 40)(44, 48, 52)(56, 60, 64) in/ 70 (80, 90, 100)(110, 120, 130)(140, 150, 160) cm
