2025 marks 100 years since Art Deco burst onto the world stage at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris. It was the birth of a bold new style that embraced luxury with waterfall edges, exotic veneers, gleaming finishes, and materials like brass, chrome, and early plastics such as Bakelite. Pieces like this dresser, with its bookmatched veneer and Bakelite hardware, were designed to feel glamorous and forward looking. Furniture shifted into the simpler, more economical designs of the Depression era, leaving Art Deco as a snapshot of pre-crash extravagance. We felt there was no better way to mark the centennial of this iconic style than to restore an authentic piece from its earliest years. This dresser’s high-gloss finish has been revived, its details brought back to life, and it now stands ready to shine again for another 100 years. The soaring 24-ft two-story front door we designed that sets the tone for the dramatic entry, hand-plastered fluted columns our team customized that feel ancient yet elevated. We traded traditional hardwood for a custom Italian marble medallion in the foyer, and brought the drama full circle with a fluted, asymmetrical fireplace that nods to Deco while echoing the space’s classical heartbeat.
