HAOutdoor living season with kids is quickly approaching, and here are our most used backyard additions during the warmer months ☀️🌳
1️⃣ Mud Kitchen
Used for open-ended play every. single. day. Most of our accessories are old pots and pans, thrifted kitchen items, and dollar store utensils and cups. (Everything is linked 🔗)
2️⃣ Nature Buffet Table
We love adding open-ended loose parts like twigs, rocks, pebbles, grass, moss, pinecones, leaves, bark, flowers, acorns, seed pods, sand, and shells.
My 3 year old uses these to make soups, cook meals, decorate mud cakes, and create little nature creations. It pairs perfectly with the mud kitchen and encourages imagination using what’s already around us.
3️⃣ Picnic Table
We eat most of our meals, especially lunches, outside during the summer. Clean up is easier, we get the midday refresh and reset we need, and somehow he always eats better outdoors.
I also bring “olds” toys and set up activities at the table for a change of scenery. He plays longer and more independently because it feels new and exciting - one of my biggest toddler hacks 👌🏻
4️⃣ Outdoor Activity / Sensory Table
This is for any parent worried about the mess after sensory play. I’ve added kinetic sand, homemade mud, water play, bubbles, scooping bins, ice play, rice, and car washes. All I need to do is hose it down when we’re done.
It’s a dedicated yes zone where my toddler can fully explore without me worrying about the mess. In the reel, you’ll see a muddy monster truck wash setup that was a huge hit!
The mud kitchen and tables were all made by @kreativekitchenz ☺️ Some of these items were previously gifted but truly worth the investment. I love that they will grow with my littles and be used for years and years to come.
I’ll continue sharing outdoor sensory play and mud kitchen ideas once it gets warmer, so follow along for more inspiration ☀️🌿
