BAEmbracing the bariatric journey means that we need to also embrace all of the feelings and emotions that come with change and transformation. Bariatric surgery brought physical transformation, but it also unearthed emotions we never expected. Grief was not something we ever thought of but we have experienced at every stage of our journey, pre and post op.
This month, we have been talking with two of our BariNation experts, @bariatric.therapist and @time_for_a_change_rny about bariatric grief and their teachings have been profound. If you have not listened to Episode 165: Understanding Bariatric Grief with Lora Grabow, listen or watch this week because on Wednesday, we sit down with Timisha Malone to better understand what we can do to move through the waves as the roll in.
Both of these experts recommend connecting with a caring, peer focused community as a tool to move through grief. This week in BariNation, Lora will be leading a “Growing Through Grief” class and in two weeks, Timisha will be leading another Bariatric Grief Support Group. These amazing opportunities are available for members of our support community 💗 If you are not a member, join us today by visiting the link in our bio or online at https://BariNation.Mn.co.
What you have been seeking could be waiting for you in the community. If you have been asking yourself “Why am I feeling like this?”, grief might be what you are experiencing.
We have to talk about all of our experiences along this journey, the highs and the lows. But as you will learn this week, grief is a tool we can use to propel us through change !💪🌟
Have you experienced grief along your bariatric journey? Tell us about it in the comments!
