Principal Bass Trombone of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Bill has shown extraordinary generosity toward my music, performing my works at this outstanding festival for the second consecutive year, following his performance of Ink Concerto in the 2024 edition. It takes only a few seconds of listening to Bill to be reminded of two essential values that, as instrumentalists, we should never abandon: a beautiful sound and true musicality.

This warm-up was really great, and was one of the first warm-ups I’ve done that really looked like a bass trombone warm-up instead of a tenor trombone warm-up. It was very Arnold Jacobs inspired, and requires quite a bit of discipline to get through because of how simple it is, but it’s incredibly thorough and by the end, I was feeling really good about my plane, particularly after a few days off.
