LI#VeteransVoices—It was truly an honor interviewing 96-year-old #Filipino @USNavy #WWII Veteran Remigio Cabacar. During WWII, an estimated 260,000 Filipinos fought alongside #Americans to battle Japanese forces in the #Pacific. They were promised veterans benefits which were later ripped away through the 1946 Rescission Act. Cabacar says he’s since taken on a decades-long fight for the recognition & dignity they deserve. He along with @filvetrep are still fighting to keep that promise. This is a story my late father covered when Filipino WWII veterans chained themselves to the MacArthur statue while protesting in Los Angeles in the 90s. Now, a story I am covering still today. 📺 If you missed Veterans Voices, you can watch the full special at DCNewsNow.com & it will re-air throughout the holidays. ➡️PLEASE SHARE WITH A DMV VETERAN/SERVICE MEMBER YOU KNOW #DMVmilitary #DMVveterans #USN #USArmy #FilipinoScout #BataanDeathMarch #SailorLife #USCG #USMC #USMarines #USAF #USSF #FilipinoVeterans #WWIIveterans
