10 signs here ⬇️ 10 signs you’re no longer a beginner runner (even if you don’t feel ready to say it yet) Let’s see how many you can tick off. 👇 1️⃣ You don’t need a mental buildup anymore No pep talk. No countdown. You lace up and go. Running stopped being an event and became normal. 2️⃣ You know the difference between tired and injured Discomfort doesn’t scare you anymore. Sharp pain still does. Listen.. That awareness alone keeps a lot of runners going. 3️⃣ Bad runs don’t make you quit Awkward rhythm. Heavy legs. Weird breathing. You don’t stop. You adjust and keep moving. 📲 Follow @amangofit If you’re currently training for big goals. I provide helpful information to help you improve and recognize your progress. 4️⃣ You can explain why a run felt hard Not “I’m bad at running.” But sleep, pace, fuel, stress, recovery. That shift is real progress. 5️⃣ Weather stopped deciding if you run You check it to prepare, not to negotiate. Cold, wind, rain just change the plan - not the habit. 6️⃣ Easy runs quietly get longer No forcing. No chasing distance. You just don’t feel the urge to stop as early anymore. 7️⃣ You realize the challenge isn’t getting stronger anymore - it’s holding back Your body can go harder now. Your lungs don’t panic. Your legs don’t scream immediately. So the real work becomes restraint, not effort. 8️⃣ You start fitting life around your runs Not squeezing them in last minute. Your run gets a place in the day. Everything else adjusts around it. 9️⃣ You know recovery matters - even if you’re sometimes still bad at it You notice when skipping rest backfires. You’re learning that doing less sometimes keeps you running more. 🔟 You catch yourself saying “it’s just an easy 5K” And immediately remember when that felt impossible. When I started I could not run. Now I’m training for a half marathon while running 250km. Follow along if your goals include half marathon or full marathon in 2026. ➡️ what was your score? Share this with someone who’s running consistently but still doubts themselves. ✅ #runnersofinstagram #beginnerrunner #5ktraining #runningjourney #runner

As a beginner runner these are 5 things I did to start my running journey: 1. Start your journey by incorporating cardio! You can’t expect to run when your body isn’t used to moving. Before I started running I used to do incline walks (level 2.5-3 with an incline of 5+) or stairmaster, usually for 20-45 minutes. It helped me get used to the idea of my body moving for long periods of time and having my heart rate high. 2. Start on the treadmill!!! Trust me I know running outside feels better but when thinking of your first run, it’s better to start in a controlled environment so you get to know your body and how it moves. I started and continue with a conversational pace. Can’t find your conversational pace attempt to sing your favorite song, still can’t or you feel like you need to stop LOWER THE SPEED!!! 3. Have a goal in mind Remember why you want to run! Is it a race you want to do, being able to chase after your kids/dog or just for the aesthetic? Having a goal will help you push yourself further than you expect, knowing there is an ending somewhere down the line. 4. Reward yourself This goes hand in hand with number 3, be proud of your small victories! Starting your running journey, you will feel ashamed or embarrassed because you don’t look/run like other people but the reality is they’re somewhere in their journey whereas you’re in yours. You can’t judge yourself for something you can’t do. Be proud of your small victories so that you can get to the big goals! 5. Have fun!!! Running sucks we all know that so have fun with it! Listen to your favorite albums, wear whatever you want, bring your friends or do it alone! Just do it and have fun with it because at the end of the day remember you’re doing this for your goals and it never hurts to have some fun and enjoy the ride You have the chance to start so do it! #beginnerrunner #fyp #fitnessreels

The biggest lesson I learned as a beginner runner: START SLOW and I mean way slower than you would think. Why this matters ➡️ running slow builds your engine so that you can eventually go faster! It helps your body understand what you are trying to do and gives it time gradually build up to a faster pace. You should not be huffing and puffing or gasping for air. If you are, you’re likely going way too fast! I always suggest running for a length of time when you start running vs a distance. 20 minute run time instead of 2 miles. Then you can solely focus on putting one foot in front of the other, check your breathing and form and figure out what feels good without the scary distance looming. ❤️ FOLLOW @lissacobb_ for more beginner runner tips and tricks! #beginnerrunner #newrunner #runningtips #running

Running is hard for beginners… but not always for the reasons people think. A lot of the struggle is actually mental. Almost every beginner runner has thoughts like: • “Everyone is watching me run.” • “I look stupid running slowly.” • “Everyone else is fitter than me.” • “Maybe running just isn’t for me.” Those thoughts are completely normal. But they often lead to habits that actually make running harder than it needs to be. Here’s what to do instead. If you feel like everyone is watching you run: Remember that most people are focused on their own workout. And if someone does notice you running, it’s usually respect, not judgement. If you feel embarrassed running slowly: Slow down anyway. Easy pace running is how endurance is built. If you can talk in full sentences while running, you’re probably at the right pace. If you feel like everyone else is fitter than you: Stop comparing your chapter one to someone else’s chapter twenty. Consistency over the next few months will change more than you think. If you feel like running “just isn’t for you”: Lower the pressure. Focus on finishing the session rather than the distance or pace. For example: Run for 20–25 minutes at an easy pace or try run / walk intervals like: 4 min run 1 min walk Repeat for 25–30 minutes. That simple structure builds confidence and endurance at the same time. Running feels hard in the beginning because you’re learning something new. You’re building fitness. You’re figuring out pacing. You’re training your mind to keep going. Every experienced runner you see has gone through that stage. Running gets easier when you stop trying to prove something and just focus on being consistent instead. Save this for the days you start telling yourself running “isn’t for you”. And follow if you want running advice that actually makes running easier.

Call me crazy but I love interval training 🏃‍♀️🥵 Plus it is a solid training method that can improve your running speed by increasing your lactate threshold 🔋 Intervals can be as simple as setting yourself a distance or time to complete, followed by a set amount of rest before performing it again. You can also spice things up with rolling intervals (fartlek runs). With rolling intervals, rather than completely stopping between efforts, you continue to run but at a much slower pace. For example: 500m fast effort, followed by a 500m much slower effort… repeat. EMOM style intervals can also spice up interval training. For example: complete 400m every 2.5 minutes. The faster you complete the 400m, the more rest time you will have before your next 400m effort. Note: if you’re a beginner runner, I would recommend building a solid endurance base before incorporating speed training. #running #training #marathon #inspo

If you’re a beginner runner, the worst thing you can do is obsess over speed ❌ When I stopped trying to keep up with the internet and embraced my 37-minute 5k pace, everything changed! I stopped getting injured, I actually started enjoying my runs & I eventually ran a full marathon 🏁🤯 Remember to run your own race & if you find yourself comparing your pace to Sally on Strava it might be time to hop off the apps 😉 Drop a 🐢 in the comments if you’re a proud member of the slow runner club! #slowrunner #beginnerrunner

What I want all beginner runners to know: 🫥 Your own self doubt is the biggest barrier to starting. 😮 You CAN run, even if you’ve never been able to before. 🤥 Whatever you’ve been told about a runner’s body isn’t true. It doesn’t matter your age, your size or your fitness - every BODY can run. 😎 Running is a skill that needs to be learnt - just like cooking or painting or rock climbing. Learning takes time, knowledge and guidance. If you’re a beginner runner, or someone who has never run before, I can help.
