I’m using the Blackmagic Camera App for full manual control – never shooting in auto.
Codec Apple ProRes 422, Color Space Apple LOG2
I use an ND filter from @freewellpro to control exposure.
All parameters are set manually (except focus, which is on auto):
🎥 White Balance: 5500 K
🎞️ Shutter Angle: 180°
⚙️ Frame Rate: 50 fps
🌑 ISO: as low as possible (around 100)
I’m also using LUT previews for Apple Log 2.

ITIf your goal is to make your videos look cinematic on your iPhone but don’t know how to, here’s my iPhone camera settings you can use to spice up your videos next time you’re out filming.
First, open your iPhone’s Settings, then scroll to the Camera tab and change the following settings.
I set my camera resolution to 4K at 24fps, but you can switch to 60 if you plan on slowing down a your video, Then head over to video format to and change to “Most Compatible.”
When filming on my iPhone, I prefer using the Blackmagic Camera app because it offers more control over my camera settings.
So you’re Open the Blackmagic Camera app, go to Settings, and ensure these options are enabled.
Set the resolution to 4K, not UHD, and make sure lens correction is turned on.
If your footage feels too warm, you can lower the white balance to give it a cooler tone, but feel free to adjust it to your preference.
Finally, I enable grids in my camera for framing and to follow the rule of thirds, which helps add depth to my videos.

📱 Blackmagic Camera App Settings (My Setup):
• Codec: H.265 (great balance of quality + file size)
• Resolution: 4K
• Orientation: Enable Vertical Video
• Color Space: Apple Log → this gives you the most dynamic range and color flexibility
• If you shoot Apple Log, I always turn on a Rec.709 Display LUT so I can expose better while filming
• If you don’t want to color grade, you can shoot in Rec.709 instead — still looks great
• I manually set ISO, Shutter Speed, and White Balance just like I would on my Sony cameras. Control = clean footage.
Shooting like this gives you a clean, professional image straight from your phone—and with good light + good technique, people won’t even realize it’s iPhone footage.
