TIWritten explanation of the Long Range Mode function at the time of this writing March 20.
1. Turn on receiver.
2. Turn on hand remote and turn it off mid boot up after the song starts and before it ends.
3. Turn on the hand remote normally. It will say "beta long range mode"
4. Dial will be active but all submenus deactivated.
5. Up5 Dn5 mode by holding both buttons down till it says "Up Down Go"
6. Dial minimum and pressing the UP5 button will trigger the signal check. Signal check will send 15 signals and wait for a response for each. Provides you a percentage as a result.
7. Both units need a reboot to exit long range mode.
Notes:
a) In Up5 and Dn5 mode, as long range mode is a one way system, if your receiver misses a incremental signal, they will be mismatched. Should this occur, signal check function is programmed to send back as a ping the last amp count and correct the discrepancy.
b) The end of summer software update will turn the Up5 Dn5 into a rolling code where any discrepancy will be corrected by any subsequent signal. Dial mode is not affected.
c) The song, the eight tones at bootup, through the Piezo buzzer are a identifier of which code version is on the unit. When the second version as a first update comes out, the song will be different. This ensures audibly your units are sharing the same code revision to ensure compatibility.
d) Code update coming in late summer has a hardware Easter egg embedded in the pc board. Will activate once you update. Allows me to work on the code in the meanwhile.
Enjoy.
