DILet’s warm up, develop skills, and prepare the brain and body for dance class! Which one are you choosing? Tell me in the comments. 😃
The BrainDance is a powerful warm up framework created by Anne Green Gilbert. The 8-sequence movement pattern is so versatile that there are endless possibilities! You can create Braindances based on monthly themes, seasons, stories, or any dance style!
At DiscoverDance, we use the BrainDance to develop our three movement goals -> Foundational Skills, Conceptual Skills, and Codified (style-specific) Skills.
👉 When we move through these eight developmental patterns (breath, tactile, core/distal, head/tail, upper/lower, body sides, cross lateral, vestibular), we ensure we are building the foundational skills our students need in order to learn and move. ✅
👉 When we present a style-specific BrainDance, we ensure we are offering the opportunity for codified skill development. ✅
👉 When we add the layer of conceptual learning, we ensure we are creating space for our students to explore all the incredible ways their bodies can move. ✅
In this series, I’ll be sharing multiple options for each pattern of the BrainDance so you can build your own!
