Steak
4 cube steaks
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp paprika
Breading
1½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
2 eggs
½ cup milk
For Frying
1 cup oil (vegetable or canola)
Heavy Brown Gravy
3 tbsp pan drippings
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
2½–3 cups warm beef broth
1 tsp black pepper
Salt, to taste
👩🍳 Instructions
Fry the Steak
Season cube steaks with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
In one bowl, mix flour with salt and pepper.
In another bowl, whisk eggs and milk.
Dredge steaks in flour → egg mixture → back into flour (press coating firmly).
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Fry steaks 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
Make the Heavy Brown Gravy
In the same skillet, leave about 3 tbsp drippings.
Whisk in flour and cook 2 minutes until lightly browned.
Slowly whisk in warm beef broth.
Add black pepper and simmer until very thick and glossy.
Serve
Place crispy steaks on plates.
Spoon heavy brown gravy generously over the top.
Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans.
