EAI’ve had the Canon PRO-1100 for just over a month now — so here’s the real review.
I paid about $1600 CAD for it, and I run a business that mails out 360+ letters every month (plus Etsy orders). So this printer doesn’t get babied. It works.
Things I like:
• The print quality is beautiful. Deep blacks. Rich colours. True fine art feel.
• It handles volume well.
• The finished prints feel professional.
Things you should know:
• The “starter” ink set that comes with it? After setup, mine was basically empty.
• A full Canon ink set is around $900 CAD (yes… really).
• It drinks ink. Especially during cleaning cycles.
• Flushed ink collects in maintenance tanks that you’ll eventually need to replace.
I cut my ink costs using third-party inks — which helps significantly — but if you’re buying this printer, budget for ink. Seriously.
Would I buy it again?
For high-volume art printing — yes. But only if you understand the long-term costs.
And if you’re wondering what I’m printing 360+ times a month…
📬 The North Post Club is my monthly snail mail membership.
Every month you receive:
• A letter from me
• A fine art print
• Stickers
• Occasionally little extras
It’s built on slow mail, Canadian winters, and the idea that connection still matters.
If you want February’s art, you have until the end of the week to join.
Warmly from the North 🤍
