FUCeMAP is changing and yes, it’s going to get tougher. But you’ve still got time to get ahead of it.
The Walbrook Institute (formerly LIBF) has just confirmed a major overhaul to the CeMAP qualification and if you’re already partway through, or just about to start, this update is for you.
Let’s break it down:
👉🏻 CeMAP 1 becomes FSRE (Financial Services, Regulation & Ethics)
This will be a Level 4 qualification (up from Level 3), meaning it’s going to go deeper and test your ability to apply knowledge, not just memorise it.
It’ll still be split into 2 units, but each unit will now have:
• 25 standard multiple choice questions
• 15 case-study-style questions (based on 3 short case studies per unit)
👉🏻 CeMAP 2
Will be streamlined from 4 units to 2 bigger ones.
Exact topic structure is still TBC — but the content will be reshuffled.
👉🏻 CeMAP 3
Will now have its own standalone syllabus.
Expect either a dedicated textbook or CeMAP 2 materials that include the extra case study theory.
✅ My recommendation?
Register for all your CeMAP exams before 29 September 2025 and aim to sit them before 12 January 2026.
Why? Because any learning provider (mine included!) will have polished, tried-and-tested materials for the current format. After the September cut-off, everyone will be working from brand-new resources — and that always comes with a bit of trial and error.
🗓 Key Dates You Need to Know:
29 Sep 2025 – Last date to register on the current CeMAP syllabus
30 Sep 2025 – New FSRE and restructured CeMAP materials released
10 Nov 2025 – First FSRE and new format exams begin
12 Jan 2026 – Final date to sit current-style CeMAP exams
The good news? If you’ve got 5 hours a week to spare, you could still get fully CeMAP qualified before the changes kick in — and give yourself a solid 2-month buffer for resits.
Let’s get ahead of it together.
