Setiap cosmetic chemist punya approach berbeda-beda ketika mereka memformulasi suatu produk. Gue tipe yang no BS alias lebih fokus pada functional ingredients dibandingkan marketing ingredients.
Contohnya untuk membuat facial wash yang “ultra hydrating”, dibanding menambahkan bahan baku “pixie dust”, gue pakai actual humectants yang memang berfungsi untuk menghidrasi kulit. Selain itu, gue menambahkan bahan fungsional lain yang bisa mereduksi iritasi dari main surfactant.
Functional ingredients memang tidak semenarik bahan “aktif”. However, they are literally carrying the functionality of the end products.
