TESo what actually is “The Cloud”? ☁️
The term “The Cloud” is quite deceptive because it sounds like information is stored in the sky. However, the cloud is just where data is stored, like how marriage certificates are stored in files or folders within a drawer or a building. And like real-life folders, you can choose to look for and open them. In practice, that would be done by double-clicking the file.
Fun Fact: Network diagrams in the 1990s used a puffy cloud to represent the Internet’s infrastructure. They exist “out there” beyond the user’s device, like how clouds exist beyond our city, state, or country.
