HE🌷 🍼 Here’s a quick tip you may not know about milk 🍼 allergy prevention and babies as Food Allergy Awareness Week comes to a close 💕
(P.S. Enjoy these videos of the Amsterdam tulips! I couldn’t get enough of them!)
❤️ 🩵 💛 The immune system doesn’t like it when we introduce an allergen during infancy and then stop feeding it.
❤️ 🩵 💛 Case in point - early discontinuation of cow’s milk formula during infancy is associated with the development of milk allergy (PMID: 34403836)
❤️ 🩵 💛 So if you have a baby who is breastfed, but a milk-based formula is introduced and tolerated (especially within the first month of life) research shows that we should keep it in the diet to help maintain the baby’s tolerance, even if the plan is to breastfeed exclusively.
❤️ 🩵 💛 As little as 2 teaspoons per day will do the trick, and once the baby starts solids, dairy foods like yogurt and cheese can take over.
❤️ 🩵 💛 Need help with starting solids, finding recipes the whole family (baby included) can enjoy, and navigating food allergy prevention during infancy all at the same time?
🌟🌟🌟 Comment #newbook below and I’ll send you a link to my new BLF cookbook and guide to starting solids and introducing allergens! It gives you the latest research on safely introducing all top 9 allergens and gives you lots of recipes and tips to continue offering them consistently.
