AIOpenAI released a new Codex desktop app.
OpenAI has launched a standalone macOS app for Codex that changes how AI is used in software work.
Until now, most people interacted with AI one task at a time.
You asked a question. You waited for an answer. Then you moved on.
This app is built for something different.
-Multiple AI agents can run at the same time
-Each agent works on a separate task in the background
-You review the results later, instead of guiding every step live
In practical terms, this means work no longer has to be sequential.
The same pattern applies to many fields:
-One agent researches
-Another prepares outputs
-Another checks or updates existing work
-All of it runs while you are focused elsewhere
OpenAI demonstrated this by generating a small game from a single instruction, with different agents handling visuals and logic in parallel.
According to Sam Altman, the limiting factor is no longer the AI model itself, but how fast ideas can be turned into finished work.
Availability:
-Live now on macOS
-Included with ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu
-Temporarily available to Free users
-Windows support is planned
This is shifting AI from interactive help to background execution.
