ARMany people think the Ten Commandments are about rules, fear, or trying to earn God’s approval. But the real story in the Bible is something much deeper and more beautiful.
Before God ever gave the commandments, He rescued His people first.
In Exodus, God delivers Israel from slavery before giving them the law. That means the commandments were never meant to earn salvation. They were given after freedom—not before it.
The Ten Commandments weren’t designed to make us perfect. They were meant to protect the freedom God had already given His people and guide them into a life that reflects His heart.
But the commandments also do something else. They act like a mirror. They reveal something about us—we can’t perfectly keep God’s law on our own. They show us our deep need for grace, forgiveness, and a Savior.
That’s why the story ultimately points to Jesus Christ.
Jesus didn’t come to erase God’s law—He came to fulfill it perfectly. Where we fall short, He succeeded. Where we fail, He was faithful. Through Him, we receive righteousness, grace, and a restored relationship with God.
The real message of the Ten Commandments isn’t about control.
It isn’t about trying harder to be perfect.
It’s about a God who saves first… and then teaches us how to live in the freedom He already gave us.
Christianity isn’t built on fear.
It’s built on grace, redemption, and relationship with God.
And the good news is this:
Because of Jesus, our hope isn’t in our ability to keep every rule perfectly—our hope is in what He already finished for us.
