SOSoul Friend, 🌿✨🪬🕊️
I saw this reel today and it stopped me in my tracks.
A grown man sitting in a therapist’s office.
Across from him is a small child under a sheet — like a ghost.
The child keeps saying
“I hate it here.”
“I want to go home.”
And the therapist replies,
“You say that every time we meet.”
If you live with Complex PTSD, that line lands deep in your body.
Not wanting to die.
Not wanting to disappear.
Just this aching feeling of
I don’t belong here.
I don’t feel safe here.
I want to go home.
But here’s the heartbreaking part.
Many people with complex trauma never had a real emotional “home” in the first place.
No place where their nervous system could rest.
No baseline of safety to return to.
So the child inside keeps wandering through adult life like a ghost.
Haunting relationships.
Haunting the body.
Haunting the nervous system.
Always searching for a place that never existed.
This is the work I do with people every day.
Not trying to silence the ghost child.
But meeting them with compassion.
Helping the adult self finally say:
I see you.
You survived something real.
And slowly — over time — helping the nervous system learn something it may never have known before:
Safety.
Because healing from complex trauma isn’t about thinking your way out of pain.
It’s about helping the part of you that never felt safe finally come home inside your own body.
