I’m a little embarrassed to admit that even after dealing with scary heart issues the past several months and needing to adjust my training priorities, I still worry about losing a physique I’ve spent 25 years building. Seems silly but very true. Lifting heavy significantly increases blood pressure and increases cardiac strain. Last thing I need is for my training to send me into another episode. So for now I’m prioritizing bodyweight movements, more daily movement, and smarter intensity so I can at a minimum maintain what I’ve spent years building. One step at a time. Progress isn’t always linear right? 🤝Follow @jasonbrowncoaching for longevity training tips 📌@torquefitnessusa discount code: JASONBROWN #jasonbrowncoaching #functionalconjugate #concurrenttraining

🚨Overspeed Training ⚡️🔥 Priming your body for max velocity starts with prepping your nervous system, not just your muscles. These explosive activation drills—aka hammy and quad tantrums—wake up the CNS and get it firing at 100%. 🔓 CNS Priming Drills: 🔹 Hamstring Tantrums: Rapidly alternate small, fast kicks like fluttering your heels toward the ground Focus on fast hamstring contractions for 5–8 seconds 🔹 Quad Tantrums: Rapid-fire mini kicks (like stomping) to activate quads explosively Go hard for 5–8 seconds to light up the anterior chain These movements are fast, high-frequency, and neurologically demanding—perfect for CNS wake-up calls. 🧠 Why it Works: After these tantrums, the CNS is primed to fire faster and more forcefully. When you follow them with overspeed sprints, you’re: Moving faster than your natural top speed Forcing the CNS to adapt to rapid limb turnover and motor unit firing Hardwiring higher velocity output into your nervous system 🚀 Overspeed Methods: Resistance band-assisted sprints High-speed treadmill sprints Downhill (slight grade) sprinting Assisted bounding drills ✅ Result: The CNS adapts to faster patterns, improves recruitment, and builds coordination at extreme speeds—leading to major speed gains in unassisted sprints. #OverspeedTraining #SpeedDevelopment #CNSActivation #TantrumDrills #HamstringTantrums #QuadTantrums #SprintMechanics #NeuromuscularPriming #TrainFastGetFast #bfsp #blackflagsportsperformance

. . . Certified… but still not confident? That’s the most common message I get. “I passed NASM / ACE / ISSA… but I don’t know what to do next.” You’re not alone — 90% of trainers feel the same. They passed the test… but can’t pass the real-world test. That’s where SUF-CPT comes in — the next step after your textbook certification. We build confident, qualified, elite trainers who can assess, program, and sell. Programming mastery starts with anatomy. How well do you know the 17 muscles of the shoulder? Start here 👇 Use this mnemonic to memorize them: SITS + PRT + BRO + SLC • SITS: Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Teres Minor, Subscapularis • PRT: Pec Major / Minor, Rhomboid Major / Minor, Teres Major / Minor • BRO: Biceps, Triceps, Delts, Traps, Lats • SLC: Serratus Anterior, Levator Scapula, Coracobrachialis In the SUF-STM, you’ll master their actions and how to apply them to real clients. Start simple. Level up. Become confident. Serve better. Become elite. #PersonalTrainer #NASM #FitnessEducation #AnatomyMadeSimple #SUFCPT #ShowUpFitness #TrainerTips #ImposterSyndrome #FitnessCareer

I think acceleration focused sessions can provide a lot of value to running faster times; however, one must be cognizant of its ability to do more harm than good. If fatigue is not present, coordination improvements to the start of the 40 are obtainable which will have the highest ROI of any coordination improvements. On the other hand, performing 200 yards of acceleration work at sub-par times will not only avoid adaptations in speed but also coordination. I like to add a healthy layer of autonomy in these sessions. If the times are there, I complete the prescribed yardage. If not, I tend to follow a minimum-effective dose approach for the session. Speed, much more so than strength or hypertrophy, is sensitive to fatigue. Don’t allow one fatigued session to create a snowball effect.
