NPThe NPLWA - Men's title race is well and truly on after @bayswatercitysc and @olympic_kingsway_sc produced a classic at a crowded Frank Drago Reserve tonight.
Olympic's 3-2 win not only ended Bayswater's hopes of completing an unbeaten season, it brought David Tough's reigning champions to within three points of the league leaders with four games to play.
Kingsway made the ideal start with a goal inside five minutes thanks to Mitch Oxborrow's curler. That triggered a period of pressure from Bayswater, who had two efforts cleared off the line and a header from Jonathan Corness hit the bar, before Chris Jackson found a way past Adrian Sinagra with a quality side-footed finish.
Back came Olympic and two goals in three minutes put them 3-1 up as Tyler Garner and Laat Mathiang punished some slack defending. Sinagra then did well to deny Corness, before the Baysie defender rose to head Matt Sparrow's side back into the game within a minute of the restart.
It was then Bayswater keeper Lewis Italiano's turn to show his quality to prevent Mathiang from making it 4-2, then Jackson had one final chance to snatch a point, only to see his volley smash the bar.
