ROCorybas ecarinatus is a lovely species from Thailand. You may think it is tiny but in fact it has a pretty average size for the orchids in this genus and what you see here is not a single plant but a whole colony of them. Although the flowers are certainly pretty it's the beautiful foliage that grabs the attention. The leaves look to have been set with fibe lines of minute pink diamonds. I grow this species for years now and it is never dissapointing. The big difference with many other tropical Corybas species is that it has a dormant period in which all above ground parts die off. It can therefore happen that people think their plant died and they trow it away. Just keep it dry for a few months and then water it again. With some luck more plants will appear than you have planted. The pot you see here was started with just 3 plants. It was growing in a ziplock bag on my windowsil minding it's own business and only because @notanotherjungle and @botanygeek came to visit and I know how keen they are on these type of plants that I looked to see if it had flowers. And it did.
