Your child needs to feel emotionally “full” before they can let go and sleep. Even 10–15 minutes of calm, present time together can make all the difference ✨Movement✨ helps release built-up energy and activate the calming nervous system. Try these scientific-proven techniques 👇 🚣‍♀️ “Row, row, row your boat” while holding hands (rhythmic motion calms the body) 🐢 Slow-motion animal walks (like turtle or sloth walks) 💨 Bubble breathing: inhale, exhale slowly like you’re blowing a bubble These help children shift from “go-go-go” mode to “rest and digest.” You can also create a wind-down ritual and keep it consistent - kids thrive on consistency and predictability 💕 
Dim lights, soft voices, familiar songs or books - these cues tell your child’s brain: it’s safe to relax. It’s all about being predictable and connected…

This is the strongest chick I know. Shes been THROUGH IT in her little 8 years of life & watching her suffer is harder than any health challenge I’ve had to face. Watching her in pain is worse than all the pain I’ve felt put together. This is her progression of her most recent health flare this week. Started as a little swollen eye and turned into a full blown infection. They think it is the MRSA that is attacking her eye which could get scary fast & I am in the thick of anxiety and trying to make the right decisions to help her and PRAYING that I don’t make any wrong decisions that could have lasting effects. As I heard this audio I just sobbed. Because she is the stronger version of me. She is the better version of me. We have always had a special connection because we get each other. We quite literally feel each others pain and I have NO doubt that she was sent to me specifically for me! Shes all the good parts of me and then even more. Mystery illness sucks! It’s scary, and frustrating, and embarrassing, and hard. And yet I would live everyday in pain for the rest of my life if I could just take it away from her but I can’t. She has to learn and grow just like I do. She has to experience pain and suffering to change and become just like I do. It sucks AND we have each other. I tried “cry it out” method twice and I almost lost my mind, literally. 😭I was in the condition of dissociation and when I caught myself on it I stopped immediately and never tried this method again. Teaser: there are other methods, more softer than this one 👇🏻 I saw the videos of paediatricians who used science to explain how good it is for children to “teach” them to sleep. But you know where is the problem…, you can’t measure the emotional state of the child when they’re crying and you’re not coming. Sometimes it comes to absurdity when the child is vomiting after crying so long, but the parents still continue to do so. I know how hard it is when you sleep bad at night or almost do not sleep at all. 🥺Try to get as much help as you can. But please, I beg you, never try ”cry it out”. Google other, softer methods, this one is not the only one! Parenting isn’t about perfection, it’s about connection! 🫶🏻 My blog helps parents to build healthy, loving relationships with age-appropriate boundaries. Here 👇🏻 1. I strongly believe leaving a baby to cry it out may lead to feelings of abandonment and distress. Yes, he's a baby right now, and he likely won't remember it, but our mind imprints our experiences in subconscious, and it affects our emotional well-being. 2. ⁠ I consider crying a primary means of communication for babies. They don't cry because they want it or enjoy it, they cry because crying is the only way they can tell you something isn't quite right in their world. 3. ⁠I'm a huge advocate of "attachment first." You have to consistently respond to their needs, so they can trust you that you will be there whenever they need you, which is frankly your duty as a parent. 4. ⁠I would never agree that crying it out doesn't physically affect little ones. Several studies have shown the increases stress hormone levels with prolonged crying, and it is such a negative experience. 5. ⁠I wouldn't want as a baby to be left to cry it out by my parents. Imagine, you've no other way except crying to tell someone that you need them, and they leave you to cry it out. Even as adult, this feels horrible! I'd rather support them to feel secure and comfortable, instead of training to cry it out. You mean to tell me that we are still following advice made up by a bunch of men that wasn’t rooted in attachment theory, wasn’t backed by any kind of science, didn’t take into account the massive change that goes on in a Mother’s brain to respond to her baby and nurture day & night, and was purely based on how they thought babies and children SHOULD sleep versus how they are biologically meant to? Yes. That’s exactly what I’m telling you. One of the founding fathers of non-responsive sleep training was Pediatrician Dr. Emmett Holt. His beliefs included ideas such as infants should not be kissed or cuddled, and must sleep in a room alone. Holt promoted the idea of regimented and disciplined parenting. He advised that: “Babies under six months should never be played with: and the less of it at anytime the better for the infant. They are made nervous and irritable, sleep badly and suffer from indigestion.” Up next is Psychologist John B. Watson, also known as the “Father of Behaviorism”. He wrote a childcare book in the 1920s, and in his book he provided advice for parents to only kiss their children at night and on the head. If they did a really good job, parents could give them a pat on their back. Pediatrician Dr. Marc Weissbluth, an advocate of full extinction method, advised parents to leave a baby alone in a room to “cry it out”. Last but not least, Pediatrician Dr. Richard Ferber. The “Ferber method” or “Ferberizing” is where parents leave the baby to cry but respond to the baby in timed intervals. I didn’t do the Ferber method. I didn’t let my baby “cry it out.” Not because I had more patience… but because I couldn’t bear the sound of his heartbreak echoing through the door. They told me, “He’ll stop eventually.” And they were right. He will stop crying. But not because he’s okay. Because no one came. He’ll fall asleep eventually… But with a body full of stress and a brain flooded with cortisol. Eyes swollen. Chest heaving. And still no one comes. They say babies need to “learn.” But what exactly are we teaching? That when they feel scared, or alone, or uncomfortable—they should stay quiet? I still hear his cries in my head—even though I answered every one. And that pressure from others? It never fully goes away. But I sleep at night knowing he never had to wonder if I’d come back. You don’t need to follow a method that breaks your heart. If your baby still needs you… it’s because you are their home. 💬 Did you feel pressured to use cry-it-out too?
