CSPresident Trump said Thursday he replaced the White House’s “thousand-dollar” ballpoint pens with cheaper Sharpies for signing bills, pointing to the switch as an example of saving taxpayer money.
“This pen is very inexpensive. It writes well. I like it,” he said during a Cabinet meeting.
The president made the remark while arguing that the Federal Reserve’s costly building renovations suggested Chair Jerome Powell lacked financial discipline, using the Sharpie example as an analogy.
“I want to save money,” he told reporters.
