Yes, it is scientifically proven that rewriting your hair every day is damaging.
Now, brushing is damaging.
Touching is damaging.
Basically any manipulation is damaging.
But specifically when your hair is wet, it’s put in a vulnerable bolt position and doing that every day is not great.
Take it for me, I used to get in the shower every day to re-wet my hair. I wouldn’t shampoo so I thought it was fine… but my curls were limpy and frizzy until I stopped this.
So here’s what I do instead:
1. Split hair into three horizontal sections if you need an extra thorough refresh. Otherwise just do the following steps all over your hair.
2. Get a gel or a foam and dilute it with a little bit of water to not make the product sticky in your hair. Or better yet, I found a refresh foam from @teatreehaircare that is specifically formulated for this that you do not need to put underwater!
3. Use praying hands to glide the product over your hair and scrunch it in. You’ll be shocked at how just this alone changes things so much.
NOW- if you’re reading this and your curls in the morning are absolutely atrocious without a full wet refresh, that is a sign that there’s actually something else wrong with your hair.
Your curls elasticity should last a few days after styling and if it’s not, there is definitely something off.
It might be your products, styling technique, or your hair is damaged and needs mending! But healthy curls should not need full refreshes every single day.
