ORThe idea of Dark Flow comes from studying the kinematic Sunyaev–Zel’dovich (kSZ) effect, tiny temperature shifts in the cosmic microwave background caused when galaxy clusters move through CMB photons. By analyzing hundreds of galaxy clusters, scientists noticed a surprising dipole pattern.
instead of random motions, many clusters seemed to drift together in one direction at high speeds. If real, this motion could mean that gravitational forces from structures outside our observable universe are tugging on matter we can see. While later studies questioned the strength of the signal, Dark Flow is still a question to the limits of our observable universe.
