ANExploring the once Asia’s biggest Devdar tree in Khunigadh — just a few km from the beautiful village of Hanol, Jaunsar, Uttarakhand. Nature’s giants truly leave you speechless.
Asia’s tallest “lamba ped” once stood quietly in Jaunsar, on the banks of the Tons river near Devta village in Uttarakhand. It was a Chir Pine (Pinus roxburghii), rising about 60.65 meters high and believed to be more than 200 years old, officially recognised as a “Great Pine Tree of Asia” before it fell due to disease and storm damage in the 2000s .
Today, the original tree is gone, but local people still remember it with pride, and a memorial and eco-park have been created at the same spot, where visitors can see the remains and learn about its story.
📍 Location: Devta forest range, along the Tons river, between Mori and Hanol in Jaunsar–Bawar, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand .
