In 2025 and beyond, recruiters care about what you’ve built - not just what you’ve memorized.
Here’s the real roadmap to break in:
1. Build your foundations through real projects
Start with networking, Linux, basic security, and scripting. Projects > passive videos. We’ve got free ones - comment “projects” and we’ll send them.
2. Document everything you build
Use GitHub and your portfolio website. Show your process. Make it easy for recruiters to see what you can do. Proof of work > bullet points on a CV.
3. Stop being shy about referrals
People you’ve worked with or learned alongside are your warmest leads. Referrals = higher chances + many companies pay bonuses for them. Ask.
4. Don’t get stuck chasing endless certs
Certs help, but don’t replace practical skill. Focus on being job-ready. If you can write scripts, secure pipelines, and troubleshoot infra, you're valuable.
5. Keep learning, but with purpose
As you grow, stay sharp. Follow security news, test new tools, refine your stack. Don’t just learn randomly - double down on what moves you forward.
