After Renee good was murdered by ICE, DHS rushed to publish a version of events and assign blame before the evidence was publicly reviewed. Minnesota officials say they’ve been blocked from conducting a truly independent investigation. We are seeing the same story play out today. DHS victim blaming and preventing an independent investigation. That’s power controlling the process that’s supposed to hold it accountable. This is about due process, states’ rights, and whether anyone, especially those in power, is subject to independent oversight when someone loses their life. Accountability isn’t a talking point. It’s the foundation of our constitutional republic.
