Ever wondered why you can hear music from another room even without seeing the speaker? That’s thanks to diffraction! Sound waves bend around corners and through openings because their wavelengths are large. Light waves, on the other hand, have tiny wavelengths, so they don’t bend much—creating shadow regions instead. But if the opening is super small, even light can diffract just like sound! #Physics #Lightwave #DiffractionExplained #STEMLearning #minutesphysics#jee #neet

When a beam of light passes from one medium into another it changes direction. This bending is called refraction, and it happens because light is obeying a deeper rule of nature: the principle of least action. According to this principle, light always follows the path that takes the least time, not necessarily the shortest distance. That’s why a beam entering plastic from air bends, because it moves slower, and it adjusts its path to keep the total travel time as short as possible. This behavior is mathematically described by Snell’s Law, which relates the angles and speeds of light in different media: n₁ sin(θ₁) = n₂ sin(θ₂) Where "n" is the refractive index and "θ" is the angle of incidence or refraction. Snell’s Law was first formulated by Willebrord Snellius in 1621, though earlier ideas date back to Ptolemy and Ibn Sahl. It wasn’t until centuries later that scientists realized this wasn’t just geometry. It was a physical consequence of light optimizing its own path, a concept later unified by Fermat’s Principle and the calculus of variations in physics. --- 💡 Learn More: Fermat’s principle - Britannica https://www.britannica.com/science/Fermats-principle [Sources] (🎞 DM) (🎼 Particles [Slowed] - Villiam Lane ) (✍️ Description) 1. Difference Between Diffraction And Interference Meaning: The difference between diffraction and interference is that diffraction is the bending of waves around an obstacle while interference is the superposition of two or more waves. When it occurs: Diffraction occurs when light waves bend around objects in their path. Interference occurs when two waves interact with each other. Effect: The effect of diffraction is that it disperses light into different colours. The effect of interference is that it creates a new wave. Examples: An example of diffraction is the Rainbow. An example of interference is Young’s Double Slit Experiment. #jeemains #neet #physics #neetpreparation#jeepreparation #trendingreels #viral #trending

✅ Follow us ✅ Magic of Refraction!! In a situation where the glass and the liquid have matching refractive indices, the light passing through does not bend at the interface between the glass and the liquid. This lack of refraction means that there's no visual cue to indicate the presence of the glass, rendering it effectively "invisible" to the naked eye. Light doesn’t choose the shortest path it chooses the fastest one. When light moves between materials like air and water, it bends in a process known as Refraction. Instead of traveling the shortest distance, light follows the path that takes the least time. This idea was described in the 17th century by Pierre de Fermat through the Fermat's Principle showing that light naturally finds the most time-efficient route. The bending itself is explained by Snell's Law, which links the angles of incoming and refracted light to how fast light travels in different materials. Every bend of light is essentially physics and mathematics working together perfectly. This content is shared strictly for educational purposes. DM us for credit/removal. 💡 A glass prism is a transparent object, typically made of glass, with flat, polished surfaces that refract (bend) light as it passes through. It has a specific geometric shape, often with a triangular cross-section, and when white light enters, it separates into its constituent colors to form a spectrum, a phenomenon called dispersion. This happens because different colors of light bend at slightly different angles as they pass through the glass.   #Deviation #GlassPrism #Physics #Optics

It’s all about light and refraction! Both Pyrex glass and vegetable oil have a similar refractive index of around 1.47. This means they bend light in almost the same way. When immersed in vegetable oil, the glass and oil effectively "match," making the glass less visible because light doesn’t change direction as it passes through. It’s a cool optical illusion caused by the way light interacts with materials. Video - 1manlab This content is shared strictly for educational purposes. DM us for credit/removal.
