DAWHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THE WALL 😳
HOW TO USE SCRIBBLE GRID TO SCALE UP A MURAL….
This is always the funniest part of the process. Seeing people’s genuine confusion/ disgust. There’s artists who use a lot less lines than me but I like to have fun and make it inclusive, so it generally gets very busy 😂
WHAT TO DO:
1. Prepare your digital design (I use procreate)
2. Use a spray can, chalk (wipes off the easiest) , charcoal or paint to mark up the wall (this can be lines symbols, shapes etc). In areas of higher detail make the markings closer together, for less detail use BIGGER and less markings.
3. Take a photo of the wall (make sure it is square, angles with warp the design)
4. Overlay the design and make it transparent. I usually use 2 different levels of opacity (40,60%) and I have a colourful and grayscale option.
5. Save this image and use it as a guide. For example the letter A, the ear of the tiger might fall there! Draw your outline and piece the puzzle together.
You can also use the wall markings/imperfections as a guide, bricks window etc! They’re essentially a grid!

ARZaha Hadid’s architecture was unique for translating radical, fluid geometries into buildable form, making buildings feel as if they were in motion rather than static objects. She rejected orthogonal grids in favor of sweeping curves, sharp angles, and continuous surfaces inspired by landscape, mathematics, and abstract painting. Crucially, she pushed digital design and engineering to their limits, allowing complex, previously “unbuildable” forms to become structurally and spatially coherent at an architectural scale.

OHMost digital design looks fake because it’s trying to simulate texture instead of understanding it.
Texturing isn’t about adding filters. It’s about making the digital feel physical — and that requires real-world reference or it’ll always look synthetic.
Look at this overprint design. Get close. Notice the misaligned ink layers, the grainy prints, the super limited color palette. Those imperfections aren’t mistakes — they’re the character.
They all come from a Risograph printer running separate color passes, one ink at a time, building up that signature overprinted look.
Most designers fake this with Photoshop overlays. It never looks right because the imperfections aren’t structurally accurate.
