👉 The cervix is fully dilated when it opens to 10 centimeters, which is the size of a large bagel.
👉 It can take 8–18 hours for a first-time mother to fully dilate, but it’s often quicker for mothers who have given birth before.z
👉 The second stage is over with complete cervical dilation and ends with the delivery of the baby.
👉 Although one may be fully dilated at 10cm, it may not be “push time” yet.
👉 Cervical dilation is not the only method of determining labor progression.
👉 Some mothers are partially dilated between 1-4cm for days or even weeks before their labor begins.
