MIBeen mixing FOH from home lately. Here’s the exact rig and routing I’m using.
Control:
1) Keep a show computer online at the venue or rehearsal space. It’s hardwired to the Allen & Heath dLive in Franklin.
2) Remote in with Jump Desktop.
3) On that machine I can open Director, Waves SuperRack, and my tracks/recording app just like I’m standing at the desk.
Audio transport:
4) Audiomovers ListenTo on both ends. From the dLive, I send the solo bus to ListenTo and stream it to me at home. From home, my talkback hits ListenTo, lands on the show computer, then gets routed back into the desk.
Why this works:
- I can solo anything I need, tweak channel processing in real time, and keep communication open with the stage.
- It is not limited to two channels. ListenTo can do multichannel. Up to 16 if you want to push into multitrack and virtual soundcheck.
Tips:
- Keep both ends on wired internet and set conservative buffers. Monitor in headphones, not the PA. Latency is fine for decision making if your reference is in-ears.
- Label your returns clearly in the desk and build a local fallback so the show keeps rolling if the connection blips.
Save this for later and drop questions if you want a deeper routing diagram.
