Why: • The F1 car’s flow stays tight to the body with almost no big separation zones. • The wake is extremely narrow and controlled — that’s basically the signature of a car that’s been sculpted around reducing turbulent pressure drag. • Every surface is doing something: managing vortices, sealing the floor, feeding the diffuser. Everything in that image points to clean boundary-layer behavior. Ranking (roughly): 1. F1 car (best aero control) • Highest L/D for a downforce machine • Minimal wake spread • Beautifully attached flow over the body and wings 2. Le Mans Hypercar (LMDh / LMH) • Almost as sophisticated as F1, but bulkier • Prioritizes stability + lower drag for 200+ mph at Le Mans • Wake wider due to canopy and big volume 3.
