As a seasoned homeschool mom, I look back and laugh at the thoughts I used to have when people said they “unschooled” or “game schooled.” 😅 Now, four kids in, with my oldest at 11 and my youngest at 4 …I’m juggling multiple grades and completely different learning needs every single day. And you know what I’ve found? Games are a clear winner in our house. They’re the one thing all of my kids engage in wholeheartedly and I don’t feel an ounce of guilt letting them play for hours. The learning happening through games is incredible: strategy, reading, math, problem-solving, teamwork, critical thinking… it’s all there. I made an entire cheat sheet of war games you can play (classic preschool, addition, place value, subtraction , fraction etc) all for free so if you want it just comment “war” and follow along for weekly ideas! How to play traditional war: 1. Divide a deck of cards between two players. 2. Each player flips one card and the person with the higher number gets to collect the cards. 3. If you both flip over the same number, you go to “war” and each person places 3 cards face down and flips over the next card. Whoever has the higher number gets to collect ALL the cards from the war. 4. Whoever loses all of their cards first, loses! In traditional war, J-11, Q-12, K-13 and Aces are the highest card! #gameschooling #homeschooling #homeschoolpreschool #cardgamesofinstagram
