AI⏱️ eFAST: The 2-Minute Life Saver
In trauma, every second counts. The eFAST (Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma) is our “visual stethoscope” in the ER.
Where are we looking? 🔍
1️⃣ RUQ (Morison’s Pouch): First place fluid collects.
2️⃣ LUQ (Perisplenic): Check that spleen!
3️⃣ Pelvis: Check behind the bladder.
4️⃣ Pericardium: Rule out tamponade.
5️⃣ Thoracic (The ‘E’): Look for “Lung Sliding” to rule out Pneumothorax.
Pro-Tip for Residents: If you don’t see the “Ants Marching” sign 🐜, start thinking Pneumothorax!
