The Palm Springs Wedding Guest Dress is complete! I ended up cuffing the sleeves and doing the keyhole back and I loved it. This is the Ella Dress Pattern by @silversagapatterns in a cotton sateen (it was a 108in wide bolt which helped a lot with keeping the pattern with these huge skirt pieces!) -I struggled with the neckline so I gathered and bound each bodice piece individually before I sewed everything together, and then I strategically placed the tie to cover up any perfections where the two met. -To make the keyhole back I did a short zip up to the top bodice seams, finished and hemmed the upper seams and added a hook and eye to the top (and another right above the zipper because I didn’t get it aligned quite right at the seams) Overall it was so comfy and easy to dance in and I can’t wait to make more once she releases the new neckline hack! #sewing #weddingguestdress #homemadedress #elladresspattern #silversagapatterns #dress #memadewardrobe #sewist #memade #sew

SILVERSAGA PATTERNS ELLA DRESS My first make of 2026 was finished on New Years Day, and promptly worn to lunch with my husband at one of our favourite places on the second. I was complimented on it as soon as I walked through the door which is always a lovely feeling. This was my first time making the @silversagapatterns #elladress and I’m sure it won’t be the last. It came together quicker than I expected and the results were better than I imagined. I went the View B, so the drawstring neckline was a little more work friendly if I ever decided I wanted to wear it to work. I also end with the short flutter sleeves, largely due to fabric constraints. I had 3.8m of linen and managed to get this out with a little to spare towards the top end of the size range. I do wish I’d pattern matched the skirts a little better but I was too worried about running out of fabric to worry too much about that. The fabric is a linen gingham I picked up in clearance last year from @spotlightstores - it’s been lovely to work with and wear which is such a win. Overall, I really recommend this pattern, I know the price point had be a fraction concerned but honestly it’s resulted in such a beautiful make I have no complaints, and plan on making more! Also, this might be my best invisible zip ever. My bag is a Picton Kit from @babylonleather - this is my second kit I’ve made and it’s such a good couch project. #toowoombasews #silversagapatterns #isew #elladresspattern

The Ella Dress by @silversaga.se photographed by the very talented @sara.ryanphotography 🫶 There’s so much that I could say about this dress. The design itself is beautiful and the pattern pieces are unconventional. It features a grown on sleeve that also has a two part sleeve gusset. It’s one of those patterns where it’s hard to fully understand before making it, but if you trust the process, the result is stunning. The pattern is also quite fabric intensive. I originally thought that I could get away with using less fabric than recommended buuuut I was wrong haha I purchased 4.5 yards of a linen like fabric from my local fabric store and used about 4 yards total. That said, it was worth all four glorious yards. There’s something special about a silhouette that requires so much fabric and lays beautifully on the body. I sewed a size 40 with no modifications to the pattern other than omitting the tie detail. My bust falls in between sizes 38 and 40, but the neckline lays nicely and I don’t feel like the girls are going to fall out. It’s kind of the perfect marriage of a flattering deep neckline that doesn’t feel too revealing or take away from its elegance. Alright I’ve said a lot, but the last thing is that the twirl factor on this dress is SO so good!! The way the fabric moves is stunning and it really makes me feel beautiful. I pretty much received compliments galore while walking around the beach today. If you can’t tell, I highly recommend this pattern and I’m so excited that the extended size range is in the works 🫶 I can’t wait to see this pattern on all you beautiful folks! #silversagapatterns #elladresspattern
