QUDoes having a major matter these days? Well, it depends on the specific industry and also job you may want to have, especially when it comes to certain research or government jobs that are hyper specific at times. Majoring in environmental science was one of the best decisions I don’t ever regret but part of me also thinks that I could’ve saved so much more money by choosing a different environmental major that I would’ve graduated within 3 than 4 years. In 2018, it was hard even trying to conceptualize what a climate media job looked like, if anything, I remember when people would laugh at it and said digital media was not important 😵
Fast forward years later, this has been my full time career for the last 4 years and I was recently offered a job opportunity at a foundation and it has me thinking that the only reason why I would even be considered for the role is that my content creation has become my work resume. One time someone asked me for my resume and I was confused because the last time I updated my resume was in 2020 😆
I always recommend that choosing a major is not an end all be all situation and that there’s plenty of careers to check out in your respective industry. Do not let yourself be undervalued and make sure to build network of connections. Did you have a hard time finding a job? What are your recommendations?

NONot everything at Costco is Non-Toxic Dad-approved! 🛒 ❌
I give Costco plenty of hype about offering safer and less toxic options for consumers at budget-friendly prices, but not everything they sell is best for your home or body.
I started in environmental science decades ago, learning about how toxins like synthetic chemicals and heavy metals can impact the environment - and, by extension, us. Because of my background, there are certain everyday products sold by Costco and many stores that I don’t like having in my home.
So, before heading out for your next Costco run, please remove these products from your shopping list!
❌ Aluminum Foil & Parchment Paper: Aluminum is a neurotoxin that can leach into your food, especially at high temperatures. This increases the aluminum levels in your body, which, over time, can contribute to many neurodegenerative issues impacting your quality of life and overall health.
👎 Non-stick parchment paper is no better; it has a silicone coating that releases siloxanes (linked to hormone disruption,liver problems, fertility issues, and c@nc3r) at temps as low as 200°F.
❌ Tuna: Tuna often contains high levels of mercury, one of the most dangerous heavy metals. If you buy it, opt for brands like Safe Catch or Skipjack tuna (skipjack has the lower mercury levels) or other brands that test for heavy metals—and eat it sparingly to decrease your risk for mercury exposure and accumulation.
❌ Plug-In Fragrances: That sweet smell contains vicious chemicals linked to potential issues like obesity, c@nc3r, heart disease, and more. As an environmental scientist, plug-in fragrances are the worst offenders to your health of the three!
Costco still has many great in-store products, which I have talked about in previous videos - just stay away from these!
