As a sailor crosses the equator under sail, they shed their identity as a Polliwog and are reborn as Shellback. I thought that I had a ceremony downloaded on my computer but couldn’t find it so I had to write a ceremony from scratch (expect the rulers of the winds section. Credit: infinityyachtsales) I had so much fun with this ceremony and am feeling humbled and proud of myself all at once for getting to the equator 🔱 onwards we sail! Cette vidéo spectaculaire, tournée en Équateur, montre comment le sens de rotation de l’eau change... juste en franchissant une ligne invisible : l’Équateur. Dans l’hémisphère Nord, l’eau tourbillonne dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre. Dans l’hémisphère Sud, elle tourne dans le sens horaire. Et pile sur la ligne équatoriale ? L’eau s’écoule... tout droit, sans tourbillon ! Ce phénomène s’appelle l’effet Coriolis : causé par la rotation de la Terre, il influence la trajectoire des objets en mouvement, y compris les courants d’air, les cyclones... et même l’eau qui s’écoule d’un évier.
