Questions? Lifting the Pelvic Floor is simply being about to contract it and I really “like it when you do that right thur🎶” with that pelvic floor😂👍! After my reel last week on connecting to your Transverse abs(deepest layer of core muscles) I got some DM’s asking about a video for cues to help with the pelvic floor! Often people understand how to squeeze the PF but you should be able to squeeze and lift it for full activation! This involves all the layers of the Pelvic floor and is needed for bracing the core correctly. I teach this in my free Core Breathing Series, and in detail DR Guide and in my coaching as well! Many also don’t realize being able to contract/lift the Pelvic Floor is just as important as being able to RELAX and lengthen the Pelvic Floor! Both are needed for reducing leakage, back pain, hip pain, healing Diastasis Recti, prolapse, healing postpartum and more! It’s learning to use the base of your core aka which is the Pelvic Floor to help you function better! I learn really well through imagery or analogies so here are some simple tips to help you connect to your pelvic floor and learn to lift/contract it and relax/lengthen it which is part of learning to brace the core for movement as well. Tip- trying this while sitting on a yoga block, exercise ball or a rolled towel may help you feel the lifting and lowering of the Pelvic Floor better. Be patient! My room is FILLED with sensory rich equipment and environments, including sensory bins and tunnels, and a trampoline and an exercise ball and a spinning chair, squishy toys, bubbles, blocks & puzzles, YOU NAME IT. 🌟 And around here? We are child-led, so the therapy room is often a child’s favorite place to be (but we definitely have our hard moments and days!!) But working in a school and watching this happen all day, has got me thinking… how can we make the classroom environments more child-led and sensory/movement rich and motivating for these students?? 🤔 I NEED to know your thoughts & experience ⬇️ #occupationaltherapy #schoolbasedot

It feels comfortable, but this position can reduce pelvic mobility and balance, which is exactly what your body needs to help baby move and settle. Instead, try this: • Sit upright or slightly forward • Swap the couch for an exercise ball when you can • Move your pelvis regularly throughout the day • Gentle chiropractic care, including the Webster Technique, to support pelvic balance and space You don’t have to be perfect.
