For over a century we believed Andromeda was on an unstoppable collision course with our galaxy. Science just said not so fast 🌌 As far back as 1912 astronomers noticed Andromeda heading toward us. By 2012 NASA confirmed it was moving so directly toward us that a collision seemed as inevitable as death itself. The night sky billions of years from now would blaze with newborn stars, two galaxies merging into one giant elliptical structure astronomers already named Milkomeda 🤯 Then in June 2025 everything changed. Astronomers Till Sawala and his team at the University of Helsinki ran 100,000 simulations using the latest Hubble and ESA Gaia data factoring in 22 different variables. What they found shook the astronomy world 🌀 They found only a 2% probability that the galaxies will collide in the next five billion years, contrary to the previous belief that collision was a certainty within that timeframe 💀 The Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way, pulls us perpendicular to Andromeda's path, significantly reducing the chance of merger. A tiny galaxy quietly saving ours without anyone asking it to 🔭 But here is what makes it truly beautiful. If a collision does occur it would trigger a fierce period of star birth followed by intense radiation from exploding young stars and a newly active supermassive black hole. A catastrophe that would simultaneously birth thousands of new suns 💫 A smashup would toss our Sun into a completely new orbit. Stars inside each galaxy are so far apart they would never directly collide. Earth itself would survive, just relocated somewhere entirely new in a galaxy it no longer recognizes 📡 INTERESTING FACT: more precise Gaia telescope data arriving in summer 2026 will refine our understanding of Andromeda's exact speed and direction, potentially changing this prediction once again. We may not know our galaxy's true fate until later this very year ⏳ . . . . . . . What’s hiding in the deepest ocean? The deeper you go, the weirder it gets. Beautiful, bizarre creatures thrive in the cold dark depths of our oceans. Until now though, most of our discoveries have just required decades of work for the chance to just get… lucky. Now, there’s a new way to discover the animals hidden in the deepest oceans. And all you need is a bit of water… For more on how, follow along! #oceans #exploration

What if every electron in the universe is actually the same one? 🌌 In the spring of 1940, physicist John Wheeler called up his student Richard Feynman and said "Feynman, I know why all electrons have the same charge and the same mass." Feynman asked why. Wheeler said "Because they are all the same electron." Here is what Wheeler meant. Every electron in existence is perfectly identical. Same mass. Same charge. Same everything. No two snowflakes are alike but somehow 10 to the power of 80 electrons across the entire universe are carbon copies of each other. Wheeler's answer to that was breathtaking. There is only one electron. It just zigzags forward and backward through time so many times that at any given moment, it appears to be everywhere at once. When it travels forward in time it looks like an electron. When it travels backward in time, it appears as a positron, its antimatter twin 🔁 Feynman himself said the idea was too poetic to ignore. He later borrowed the backwards-in-time idea and built it into his path integral formulation of quantum physics, which won him the Nobel Prize in 1965 ✨ MIND-BENDING FACT: According to PBS Space Time, if you drew a Feynman diagram of the entire universe under this hypothesis, you would need just one line. One single particle weaving back and forth across all of space and all of time, creating every electron and every positron that has ever existed. Including every electron in your body right now 🧠 . . . . . . . . . . . Deep beneath the ocean, the Titanic rests in complete darkness. In this video, a deep-sea robotic explorer travels along the wreck — moving past rusted doors, broken corridors, and collapsing railings — revealing what time and water have done to one of history’s most famous ships. This is a visual representation of what such an exploration might look like inside the Titanic wreck. What do you think the robot would discover next? Disclaimer: This video is an AI-generated visual imagination created for storytelling and educational purposes. The struggle of the "Lunar Lean." 👨‍🚀🌕🧼 This rare clip from Apollo 17 shows Harrison "Jack" Schmitt, the only trained geologist to ever walk on the Moon, losing his battle with physics. Why it’s so hard to stay upright: In lunar gravity, you only weigh 16% of your Earth weight. While that sounds like a superpower, it means your "traction" is almost non-existent. When Schmitt leans over to grab a sample, his center of mass shifts, and because there isn't enough gravity to "anchor" his feet, he begins a slow-motion descent into the dust. The Gear Factor: Astronauts had to use a specific "kangaroo hop" to move because walking normally would often result in exactly what you see here. NASA actually used specialized Reduced Gravity Simulators back on Earth to study these exact movements, measuring fatigue and energy expenditure to ensure astronauts could keep working after a fall. It’s a reminder that even for the best explorers, the Moon is a slippery, alien place where even a simple walk is a feat of engineering. ✨ If you were on the Moon, would you try to walk normally or just hop everywhere like a kangaroo? 👇 #universia #nasa #apollo17 #moonlanding #spacefacts #gravity #physics #astronomy #scienceeducation #exploration #moonwalk #geology

TON 618 doesn't break the rules of the universe. It rewrites them entirely 🌌 Scientists discovered this ultramassive black hole in 1970 but only understood its true scale decades later through quasar research. What they found left the astronomy world speechless 🤯 Here's what lives 10.4 billion light years away from us 🔴 Its mass is 66 billion times that of our Sun making it one of the most massive single objects ever discovered in the observable universe 🌀 Its event horizon is so wide that our entire solar system would fit inside it 11 times over with room to spare ⏳ Light falling into TON 618 takes thousands of years just to cross from one side of its event horizon to the other 💀 The gravitational time dilation near its edge is so extreme that minutes there could equal thousands of years passing in the outside universe 🔭 It powers a quasar, a jet of energy so bright it outshines entire galaxies containing hundreds of billions of stars 📡 Despite being 10.4 billion light years away it is still one of the brightest objects ever detected proving its energy output is almost incomprehensible INTERESTING FACT: TON 618 formed when the universe was only a fraction of its current age meaning something this massive existed before most galaxies we see today were even born 💫 Some things in this universe don't just exceed our imagination. They make imagination feel small 👁️🌌 . . . . . . . . . . . I Found a Giant Hand Buried Under the Ocean… While diving along the ocean floor, I discovered something strange buried in the sand — a massive stone hand, covered in algae and shells. It looked like part of something much bigger, hidden beneath the seabed for a very long time. I carefully lifted one of its fingers just to see what was underneath… and the sand slowly drifted away. In the distance, something large moved through the water, reminding me that the ocean still keeps many secrets. Not every discovery is about treasure. The Star that Dances. 💃🌟🔭 When you point a telescope at Sirius, you don't just see a dot of light. You see a shimmering, shifting orb of colors that feels almost alive. The Distance: Located 80 trillion kilometers away, Sirius is the brightest star in our night sky. It is actually a binary star system, but its primary star, Sirius A, is twice as massive as our Sun and 25 times more luminous. The "Twinkle" Mystery: The "boiling" effect you see in this video isn't coming from the star itself, but from Earth’s atmosphere. Because Sirius is so bright and often sits low on the horizon, its light has to pass through a lot of thick, moving air. This air acts like a lens, bending the light and splitting it into different wavelengths (colors) before it hits the camera. It’s a beautiful reminder that even across 80 trillion kilometers, the universe still finds a way to put on a show. ✨ Have you ever noticed Sirius flashing different colors while stargazing, or did you think it was a plane? 👇 #universia #sirius #astronomy #stargazing #spacefacts #scienceeducation #cosmos #physics #telescope #nightsky #brighteststar #exploration
