And then out of nowhere you see a sweet Naples grandma in a floral dress casually walking an alligator like it is the most normal thing in the world. The police officer slows down. You can hear the confusion turning into curiosity. He is trying to figure out if his eyes are working correctly. The grandma does not miss a beat. Morning officer. She introduces the alligator like it is her tiny rescue dog. This is Myrtle. Eight years old. Very well behaved. She says it with total confidence, like she has said it a hundred times. You can feel the entire video shift from shock to pure Florida magic. The officer is polite but baffled. The grandma is proud of her gator. Myrtle is unbothered and just enjoying her stroll under the Naples sun. And then the best part. The officer asks for paperwork. She reaches right into her dress pocket and pulls out a real state permit like she has been waiting for this exact request all day. The officer glances at it, nods, and says the funniest possible line. Looks legit. Only in Florida do you get a moment this wholesome, this surreal, and this perfect. It is the blend of chaos and charm that makes people fall in love with this state. Naples sunshine. Small town energy. A grandma with confidence. A gator named Myrtle. This water taxi also travels the canals as a tour would and the captain also explains the history and interesting tacts about the area but you get all this for the fraction of the cost! There are 10 stops and you can get on and off as you wish! (I recommend getting off at the mall it you want to shop / walk around and at the restaurant stops so you can dine with a view!) 2️⃣ Waterfront dining : It doesn’t matter if it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner you HAVE to dine at one of their many waterfront restaurants. I had breakfast at Lona restaurant and the views and food were amazing! I had lunch at Shooters and it was so next level and also had dinner at GGs restaurant in Hollywood, this one was my fav! 3️⃣ Fort Lauderdale beach: Your Fort Lauderdale trip wouldn’t be complete if you didn’t visit the beach! Best beaches in the area are Fort Lauderdale Beach and Olas Beach, I visited Fort Lauderdale Beach, and it was amazing! 4️⃣ Olas Blvd : This popular and luxurious shopping strip will be one of the highlights of your trip here! even if you don’t do any shopping you’ll enjoy walking the strip as there are ice cream shops, gelato shops and even art galleries to visit the vibes here are 🔥 5️⃣ Visit Hollywood : Go to Hollywood beach and dine at GGs waterfront while there! (If you have time visit the iconic Hard Rock Hotel this hotel is shaped like a guitar 🤯) Bonus recommendation: Visit Fort Lauderdale by the sea. This cute neighborhood has great snorkeling opportunities so if you have time you won’t regret going!
