MAMost exponential functions change when you differentiate them.
For example:
d/dx (2ˣ) = 2ˣ ln2
d/dx (10ˣ) = 10ˣ ln10
But one function behaves differently.
d/dx (eˣ) = eˣ
Its slope is exactly the same as the function value at every point.
That’s why the number e appears everywhere in mathematics —
growth models, calculus, probability, finance and more.
Save this if you want to remember why e is the natural base.
